Can UK residents finance dental treatment abroad?

Can UK residents finance dental treatment abroad?

Short answer: yes. UK residents can finance dental treatment carried out abroad through Finance Health Group. Finance of up to £5,000 over up to 24 months (representative 21.9% APR, fixed) is arranged with a UK-authorised lender, so the credit agreement is regulated in the UK even though the treatment takes place at a partner clinic in another country. Finance Health Group Ltd is a credit broker, not a lender (FCA FRN 915721). Credit is subject to status.

Who this guide is for

This guide is for people living in the United Kingdom who are considering dental treatment abroad, for example implants, crowns, veneers or full-arch work, at one of Finance Health Group's partner clinics, and who want to understand how finance works, what it costs and what protection they have.

How the finance works

  1. Choose a partner clinic. Finance is available for treatment at partner hospitals and clinics. If your preferred clinic is not a partner, it can ask to join; see How it works.
  2. Get a written quotation. The clinic confirms your treatment plan and total price.
  3. Receive your application link. The clinic or agency emails you a secure finance application link.
  4. Apply with the lender. You complete the application online with the UK-authorised finance provider, which carries out identity and credit checks and tells you before any search is recorded on your credit file. Decisions are usually instant.
  5. Sign and receive the payout. After you sign the credit agreement, a Deposit Fee of usually 10% is applied towards your treatment package and the net payout (usually 90%) is transferred to your bank account. You pay the net amount to the clinic, which treats it, together with the Deposit Fee, as payment towards the full quoted package.
  6. Repay the lender. You repay the finance provider in fixed monthly instalments, not Finance Health Group or the clinic.

What it costs

Representative example: borrowing £5,000 over 24 months at a representative 21.9% APR (fixed): 24 monthly repayments of £254.40, total amount payable £6,105.60, total cost of credit £1,105.60. Shorter terms cost less in total; see the Eligible Countries page for 3-, 6- and 12-month examples. Finance Health Group does not charge you a fee for the credit broking. The lender confirms your exact rate and repayments before you sign.

Eligibility

  • You are a UK resident aged 18 or over.
  • You can provide proof of identity and address; the lender may ask for proof of income or a UK bank account in your name.
  • The treatment is at a partner clinic and the amount financed is within the UK limit (up to £5,000). Any balance above the financed amount is agreed directly with the clinic.
  • Approval depends on the lender's credit and affordability assessment.

Your protection as a UK consumer

  • Regulated agreement. Your credit agreement with a UK-authorised lender is regulated under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and FCA rules wherever the treatment takes place.
  • 14-day right to withdraw. You can withdraw from a regulated credit agreement within 14 days of signing; the lender explains how. Withdrawing from the credit does not by itself cancel your treatment booking, and the Deposit Fee rules in our Refund Policy apply once the payout has been completed.
  • Early repayment. You can repay early in full or in part and the lender must reduce the total cost of credit accordingly.
  • Complaints. Complaints about the credit broking go to Finance Health Group (see Complaints) and may be referred to the Financial Ombudsman Service; complaints about the loan itself go to the lender; complaints about the treatment go to the clinic.

Things to check before you travel

  • Confirm the clinic's registration with its national regulator and ask for the names and qualifications of the treating dentists.
  • Get the treatment plan, price, aftercare and warranty terms in writing, and ask what happens if follow-up treatment is needed after you return to the UK.
  • Build travel, accommodation and time off work into your budget; finance covers the treatment package quoted by the clinic.
  • Consider an independent second opinion from a UK dentist before committing.

Limits of this guide

Finance Health Group arranges finance and coordinates treatment; it does not provide dental treatment or clinical advice, and it does not guarantee treatment outcomes. Finance is subject to status and lender approval. The lender's pre-contract information and your credit agreement take precedence over this guide.
